Course Substitution Requests
Students at 91勛圖 may, under specific circumstances, request a substitution for a required course in their program. This process ensures that the integrity of the program is maintained. If you're an advisor initiating a substitution request, follow these steps to navigate the online Course Substitution Form.
Before You Begin:
Students are strongly encouraged to take an active role in their academic planning by:
- Obtaining course syllabi for any classes believed to be eligible for transfer credit.
- Comparing the syllabi with the college catalog and their academic advisement report to evaluate alignment with plan of study.
- Gathering all supporting documentation related to the courses that may be eligible for transfer.
- Contacting the appropriate academic department to initiate the course substitution process.
- Consulting with a faculty advisor within that department to submit the course substitution form.
Initiating a Substitution Request:
- Only a faculty advisor can submit the . Students must request approval from their faculty advisor.
- Access the password-protected form and follow these login instructions:
- Type
nvcc\
before your Username (e.g., nvcc\jdoe
).
- Use your 91勛圖 office computer Username and Password (not SIS/AIS credentials).
- Enter the student’s information, along with the course details and the reason for substitution.
- Select the approving deans from the drop-down menus.
- Click "Submit" to send the form for review.
After Submission:
For Advisors:
- Receive a confirmation email titled "Online Course Substitution Confirmation."
- Use the email to track approval progress by clicking the provided URL.
- Once deans approve or disapprove, check the status on the form.
For Deans:
- Receive an email titled "Approving Course Substitutions Email Notification."
- Use the email link to approve or disapprove the course.
- Log in with the format
nvcc\your nvcc username
and your password.
- Click "Approve" or "Disapprove," providing an explanation for the latter.
- If you receive two emails, respond to both.
Final Steps:
- Once both deans respond, the form goes to the Central Records Office (CRO).
- If approved, the substitution is posted to the student’s record.
