RTH 227 - Integrated Respiratory Therapy Skills II (2 CR.)
Course Description
Presents intensive correlation of all major respiratory therapy subject areas reflecting the entry-level and advanced practitioner matrices. The course emphasizes assessment, implementation, and modification of therapy to patient response. Lecture 2 hours per week.
General Course Purpose
The primary focus of the course is to prepare the student to function at the entry-level and advanced practitioner levels through the integration of material presented in the first three semesters of the program.
Course Prerequisites/Corequisites
Prerequisite: RTH coursework in the first 4 semesters of the program or permission of the assistant dean.
Course Objectives
Upon completing the course, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate competency in information gathering, decision-making and instrumentation skills consistent with the entry-level and advanced practitioners.
- Apply problem-based learning techniques to respiratory care scenarios
- Utilize the AARC’s Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG’s) and therapist driven protocols (TDP’s)

- Use of the NBRC Matrices and entry level self-assessment exam.
- Problem based learning

- Case studies in respiratory care.
- Employs and utilizes clinical simulation
