RAD 221 - Radiographic Procedures II (4 CR.)
Course Description
Continues procedures for positioning the patient's anatomical structures relative to X-ray beam and image receptor. Emphasizes procedures for routine examination of the skull, contrast studies of internal organs, and special procedures employed in the more complicated investigation of the human body. Lecture 3 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 6 hours per week.
General Course Purpose
The general purpose of this course is topographic bony anatomy of the cranium and the study of the body systems. Radiographic positions, which demonstrate this anatomy, are discussed in lecture and demonstrated in a required 3 hours laboratory section.
Course Prerequisites/Corequisites
Completion of RAD 121 with a grade of " C"
Course Objectives
Upon completing the course, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate and show proficiency through laboratory technique in topographic anatomy of the cranium and facial bones.
- Demonstrate and show proficiency through laboratory technique in anatomy of the following body systems:
- digestive
- respiratory
- urinary
- male/female reproductive
- Position and obtain adequate radiographs for the following:
- cranial and facial bones
- digestive system
- respiratory system
- male/female reproductive systems
- urinary system
