BUS 265 - Ethical Issues in Management (3 CR.)

Course Description

Examines the legal, ethical, and social responsibilities of management. May use cases to develop the ability to think and act responsibly. Lecture 3 hours per w eek.

General Course Purpose

To introduce the student to the ethical concepts that are relevant to making managerial decisions and to develop the reasoning skills needed to apply ethical concepts to managerial decisions. This course can be used as an elective to all Business programs. Students are recommended to have completed ENG 111 and BUS 100.

Course Prerequisites/Corequisites

Students are expected to have completed ENG 111.

Course Objectives

Upon the completion of this course, the student should be able to:
  • Describe the ethical concepts relevant to business situations
  • Demonstrate appropriate reasoning skills applicable in ethical decision-making
  • Explain the role of business in society
  • Review case studies of relevant ethical problems faced by business managers
  • Apply theoretical approaches to resolve issues in management
  • Compare ethical dilemmas facing the organization and its stakeholders
  • Evaluate the ethical issues in an international landscape
  • Evaluate cultural Literacy in ethical decision-making
  • Apply leadership models to ethical decision-making
