Purpose: The curriculum is designed primarily for students who wish to transfer to a four-year college or university to complete a baccalaureate degree in computer science. The curriculum emphasizes the study of the science of computing and the use of computing in a scientific setting.

Transfer Information: Students are advised to work closely with the faculty and counseling staff for program and course scheduling. Electives should be chosen carefully to meet the requirements of the transfer institution. The responsibility for proper course selection rests with the student.

Recommended Preparation: Satisfactory completion of the following high school units or equivalent: 4 units of English and 4 units of college preparatory mathematics.

CSC听courses used for this program may not be more than 10 years old, unless approved by the academic dean.听

¹听Select any HIS course听listed under the social/behavioral science courses in General Education Electives . Elective should be selected with advice of a counselor or faculty advisor to meet the requirements of the transfer institution.

^2听Students will come to this program with different levels of preparation. If precalculus is needed, begin with听MTH 167 听(辞谤听MTH 161 听补苍诲听MTH 162 ).听If placed out of precalculus, begin with听MTH 263 听and replace the precalculus credits with two听electives from听footnote #3 that total five credits or more.听

^3听May choose from the following list: CSC 205 ,听CSC 208 ,听CSC 215 ,听MTH 265 , MTH 266 ,听MTH 288 , PHY 201 听or any science listed on footnote #6 and #7.听 Students should consult a faculty advisor and their transfer institution to select appropriate courses.听听

^4听See humanities/fine arts courses listed under听General Education Electives . Students must choose courses from two of the three areas listed. Credit will not be applied if student takes two courses from the same area. Electives should be selected with advice of a counselor or academic advisor to meet requirements of the transfer institution.

^5听MTH 245 听may be used for this requirement if the student’s transfer institution requires it.

^6听Physical and life science elective听must听be selected from the following:听BIO 101 听,听CHM 111 ,听PHY 241 ,听GOL 105 , or听GOL 106 . Electives should be selected with advice of a counselor or academic advisor to meet the requirements of the transfer institution.

⁷听Physical and life science elective听must听be selected from the following: BIO 102 , CHM 112 , PHY 242 , GOL 105 , or听GOL 106 . Electives should be selected with advice of a counselor or faculty advisor to meet the requirements of the transfer institution.
