Important Security Updates to my91勛圖/myVCCS – Effective Immediately
In order to enhance the security of user accounts, the VCCS has made several important changes to how alternative email addresses and mobile numbers are managed. These updates are effective immediately.
1. SIS Alternative Email and Mobile Phone Number Updates
- Updates to Alternative Email addresses through the Student Information System (SIS) have been disabled.
- Changes to the Mobile Number can still be made in SIS, but those changes will not propagate to myVCCS.
- These changes were implemented to prevent potential system exploitation.
2. New Procedures for Updating Alternate Email and Mobile Phone Numbers

3. New Student Accounts
- New student accounts will still have an alternative email and mobile phone numbers added during creation.
4. Account Claiming Process

5. SMS/Text MFA Changes
- SMS/Text MFA is no longer automatically enabled for new accounts.

The VCCS has also mandated that in certain situations, users may be asked to confirm their identity using a photo ID over a Zoom session. This will cause an increase in our handle times and extend user wait times. While we regret the negative impact this will have, we must comply with the state’s security mandates. To expedite the process, please have your photo ID ready when calling the Help Desk.

Reset Password or Unlock Account
Here are the online tools to reset and unlock your My91勛圖 and NVCC (network/email) accounts. We encourage all 91勛圖 students, faculty, and staff to use these tools to resolve any account issues before calling the IT Help Desk to avoid waiting in long queues to speak with a Help Desk Analyst.
My91勛圖 Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
All users must enroll in Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to access Canvas, SIS, and other critical my91勛圖 tools.
There are three methods for MFA using your mobile device:
- Use the RapidIdentity app for authentication.
- Use text messaging for authentication.
- Use Time-Based One-Time Password (TOTP) for authentication with the Microsoft Authenticator App.
- Use Time-Based One-Time Password (TOTP) for authentication with the RapidIdentity App.
If you successfully set up MFA but fail authentication twice, please wait 15-20 minutes before you reattempt or risk account lockout.
Options for individuals who do not possess a smartphone, cell phone, or other mobile device are still being researched by VCCS. We will make this information available as soon as we can.

Prior to Contacting the IT Help Desk
We have been experiencing issues with users not being able to sign in after changing their password. If you experience this issue, please close all browser windows and try again. If that does not work, login using your username in ALL CAPS. Example: enter bbb123 as BBB123.
Need to reset your my91勛圖 password? You can often reset it yourself, and avoid waiting on hold for an agent by clicking on the Forgot Password link on the .
If you are unable to reset your password using the Forgot Password link, you can call the IT Help Desk for assistance. Please have the following information available:
- Your StudentID or EmplID
- Your SSN if you do not know your StudentID or EmplID
- Your my91勛圖 username if available
